There’s an old joke that goes, “What’s black and white and red all over?”
Answer: a newspaper.
(Actually, “read” all over. Yeah, it’s one of those jokes that’s better told than written. Anywho…)
Since OurChurch.com’s inception almost 29 years ago (yes, that long ago!), we’ve been known for our black, white, and red color scheme — and our logo featuring two people joining hands to form a church.
Today, we turn the page on an era as we roll out a new logo and color palette.
Why are we rebranding?
We realized our old logo looked a bit dated, and the colors no longer reflected the values we want to communicate. Since we provide branding services for other businesses and nonprofits, it’s important that we follow our own advice and lead by example.
(So, no, we haven’t been bought out or merged with another company, nor are we planning to. We’re still a family-owned and operated business committed to helping you live out your mission online.)
Introducing our new logo and color palette!
Let’s start with the new colors:
Blue: Conveys trust, stability, and spiritual depth — values that fit our Christ-centered brand.
Green: Represents life and growth – attributes of the vibrant, growing network of organizations we serve.
The balance between the two creates a fresh, inviting look with a global emphasis.
What do you see?
I was tempted to explain the different aspects of the logo and their intended meaning, but that would eliminate the mystery and the fun of examining, contemplating, and speculating about it.
Francis Bacon once said, “The job of the artist is always to deepen the mystery.”
Post a comment and tell us what you see and what you think it means?
And as you contemplate our logo, think about this…
A brand is not just a logo. It’s the story, the voice, and the promise behind it. -Paul Steinbrueck
