***Please read this entire page and BEFORE you switch to a WP-EZ 2.0 theme and begin the migration process! ***
WP-EZ 2.0 has been available since Nov 2017. Before we get to the FAQs, a little house keeping...
- If you missed the announcement WP-EZ Website Builder 2.0 Is Now Available! posted Nov 2, 2017, please read it first. It explains (and shows in a video) the new features in 2.0 and how it's different from 1.0.
- If you are still using the ancient NE1 Website Builder and want to migrate go WP-EZ 2.0, go to the NE1 to WP-EZ 2.0 Migration FAQs page.
- If you would like us to migrate your WP-EZ site to 2.0, you can read more about that here.
Q) I'm not sure what version of WP-EZ I'm using. How can I tell?
Login to MyOCC, click the WP-EZ Admin button to get to the WP-EZ Dashboard. Towards the top right, it tells you what theme you are using and whether it's a 1.0 or 2.0 theme.
Important note: If you started migrating your 1.0 website to 2.0 before Feb 19, 2024 but haven't completed the migration. you will see a message like this that your 2.0 theme has been imported but not activated.

Our migration process and migration tool changed Feb 19, 2024. Please refer to WP-EZ 2.0: WP-EZ 1.0 to 2.0 Migration FAQs (Pre Feb '24) for instructions.
If the WP-EZ Dashboard indicates you have a WP-EZ 1.0 them, please continue with the instructions on this page.
Q) I am using the original WP-EZ Website Builder. Do I have to migrate to 2.0?
For now, migrating to 2.0 is not mandatory. We will continue to support and update 1.0 as long as we can. However, we think most organizations will want to switch because the 2.0 themes look better, the page templates help to make great looking pages very quickly.
Additionally, because it takes time and resources on our part to continue to maintain WP-EZ 1.0, beginning May 1, 2024, WP-EZ 1.0 users will be charged a "WP-EZ 1.0 Usage Fee" of $7/mo.
Q) Can the migration from WP-EZ 1.0 to 2.0 be done with the simple click of a button?
Yes and no.
As of Feb 19, 2024, when you switch from a 1.0 theme to a 2.0 theme (which takes just a few clicks), your website is officially a 2.0 site. There is nothing more you HAVE TO do.
However, two of the best features of WP-EZ 2.0 can help you make the content of your pages (the part below the header and above the footer) look much better. These two features are the
- drag-and-drop Page Builder, which enables you click on and drag anything you want to wherever you want it on the page. And the
- Page Templates, which are pre-designed pages with sample content, which you can use to quickly and easily create great looking pages
So, while you can migrate to WP-EZ 2.0 in seconds, after you do, you'll probably want to update the pages of your website using the Page Builder and Page Templates. But there's no pressure or deadline to do this.
Q) Would you provide step-by-step instructions that show how to migrate from WP-EZ to WP-EZ 2.0?
Yes. Soon we will add a video tutorial showing a sample migration. In the meantime, here are the steps.
1) Switch to a WP-EZ 2.0 Theme
Login to MyOCC. Click the "Change Theme" button, and select the WP-EZ 2.0 theme you wish to use.
After you do this, your website will be switched to the new theme, so the header and footer will look like the new theme.
Your menu and all your existing pages will remain unchanged.
2) Edit Your Pages
Once you've loaded your new theme, we recommend reviewing every page of your website and updating those you'd like to improve.
If you are logged into your WP-EZ Dashboard, you will see a black bar at the top of each web page. Click the "Page Builder" link to edit it.
All of the existing content for the page will appear in one "Row," which you can edit by clicking on it.
To use a Page Template
- Click the + sign in the top right corner
- Click the "Templates" tab on the popup
- Select the Page Template for the type of page you're editing. (There isn't a page template for every possible type of page, but you should see 6-8 page template for the most common pages)
- A popup will be displayed asking if you want to "Replace Existing Layout" or "Append New Layout." We recommend selecting "Append New Layout." This will add the Page Template below your existing content (instead of deleting it).
- From here you can copy your your old content from the top and paste it into the page template below it, replacing the sample content with your own content.
- Once you have moved all the content you want to move, delete the row at the top that contained the original content.
- Click the Done button in the top right and Publish the changes.
We have created a video tutorial for each page template of each theme. Before you start editing a page, we encourage you to watch the video tutorial for that page.
Q) I'm confused and getting frustrated. What should I do?
First, stop and pray. Seriously, God is in this with us. He gives wisdom, understanding and patience. Second, make sure you've watched the migration video tutorial above, the WP-EZ 2.0 General videos. If you're still confused and frustrated, create a help desk ticket so our support team can assist you.
If you want a 2.0 site, but doing this migration just isn't the best use of your time, let us migrate your site for you - here's how.
